Stranger Things fans were captivated by Joseph Quinn's portrayal of Eddie Munson, the metalhead leader of the Hellfire Club in season 4. Now, get ready to rock with Eddie's very own origin story.
In an exclusive reveal, Entertainment Weekly showcased the cover art for Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus, a new novel by Caitlin Schneiderhan, who's currently part of the writing team for season 5 of the hit Netflix series. But that's not all - we also have some exciting new details.
The book, set to be published by Penguin Random House on October 31, takes us back to 1984, two years before the events of Stranger Things season 4. The story follows Eddie as he meets a record producer named Paige, who offers him the chance to achieve his musical dreams with his band Corroded Coffin. There's just one problem: he needs money.
That's where his dad's shady scheme comes in, putting Eddie in a risky situation with a chance to break free from the small town of Hawkins, Indiana.
"Eddie Munson is the protective shepherd to the nerdy lost sheep of Hawkins High. But taking on that mantle wasn't such a cut-and-dry decision," - Schneiderhan said in a statement.
"I'm so excited for fans to go with him on his journey towards becoming a hero, to experience the messy and uncomfortable decisions that led him to become the brave misfit we all know and love."
The cover art for Flight of Icarus features an illustration of Eddie shredding on his guitar, head thrown back to the sky.
Schneiderhan adds,
"Eddie is a person who is unfailingly, unapologetically himself, which is irresistible enough on its own. But add on the fact that he encourages the people around him to be the same? Who wouldn't want to be friends with that guy?"
